One day it did all make complete sense Oh wait, hold on I still speak in the past tense I am removed From all that soothes Jaded, abused By my own moves I need to slow down all of myself I wait, they wait, Is this all of myself? I know we're told Turn in, be cold Unlearn and know How to grow old One day this all will make complete sense I'm right, I'm wrong It still makes complete sense
2.
For now, there isn't a me or you For now, there is gravity, its good I think I found the key too soon You're always inside of me, for good Oh, it feels like I'm dying I'm just playin', I'm lyin' I miss you so heavily, it's true It wasn't always so clean or new There was a simplicity with you A missed opportunity, we knew A thousand ways to compete for you Another scratch on the street to view But I'm always here I'm always here
3.
You waited much too long, now she's gone and she's not coming home again. You've been thinking 'bout no one but yourself, now you'll just have to be patient for the day to come, you're gonna run like the wind to her, your dreams won't be deferred, so just forget all the things you heard. You know it doesn't matter what they think our love is about, she's got something you can't live without.

A polyester sweater made of fiber laden threads The one I wore for years and then got rid of in a sec I have no time for past regrets A pot of boiling herbal tea laced with a chemical To ensure I would open up my mind and see the world I have no time for past regrets I found a sweater in a box that had your name on it I tried to put it on and realized why it didn't fit I have no time for past regrets 'Cause I have no time for past regrets I have no time for past regrets I have no time for past regrets

Before I Die 01:49
I am a man unborn and I have to do my homework Before I die Can't wait, it's almost your birthday I have to take a shower Before I die Before I die Before I die Before I die I have to wrap your present I have to take a shit Before I die I have to brush my teeth and I have to pay the city Before I die Before I die Before I die Before I die I am a man unborn and I have to do my homework Before I die Can't wait, it's almost your birthday I have to take a shower Before I die Before I die Before I die Before I die

The Empress 03:42
Hold on to your concubine, I won't tell Please don't take it personal I won't care, oh well On the corner of my mind's wishing well With the hammer chiseling out god's bell In extreme measures Hold extreme pleasures Again my friends (my friend, my friend) Again my friends (my friend, my friend) Hold on to reason Hold on to seasons, again My friends (my friend, my friend), again My friends (my friend, my friend) Subjugated by the stone on the side Something clearly understood in the light, oh why Spilled a towel in my head out of space Still I'm gonna break some bread on your head My friend, yeah yeah, put that one on My friend, my friend, my friend, my friend! Ooh, ooh!

about

“Our music scene sucks.”

I’ve heard this sentiment from a variety of people who feel there isn't an active and engaging music scene in the area we call home. I hear recollections of a time years ago when there was a group of artists, musicians, and fans in the 805 area who worked together to create a community that was energized and enthusiastic. When I ask what’s changed and how we can fix it, the response I tend to get is a shrug. It’s a bummer that that perception appears so universal, and I can’t say I haven’t felt it too.

But, I don't think that perception is correct anymore. In fact, I think it's kind of B.S.

There are countless people right now who are not only saying they want a community, but are acting on it. In recent months, I’ve had great experiences watching bands like Easter Teeth, Soul Hex, The Volt per Octaves, Retrospect, and others perform. I've been to shows in Isla Vista, Downtown Santa Barbara, and Ventura that have proven there are people who want to come together, have a great time, and push the art forward.

I'd love to see that continue and I think it can. I think it has to. I think it will.

With this idea in mind, Oxnard-based band Late Bloomers alongside our band Internet will be performing at The Tavern in Ventura this Friday, May 11th to promote our split mixtape released on the same day. It’s our small contribution to this whole thing.

We are releasing this mixtape because we really believe in what the other is doing. We have friends we want to spread this to (like the above mentioned bands) and hope to work with as many people as possible who want to do something that we can all feel great about.

The way I look at it, it’s our responsibility to make art that we feel is great. Ultimately, it’s for you to decide if you agree.

We hope to see you at our mixtape release. We know you'll have an awesome time.
